Memorial University recovers from cyberattack, delays semester start

Memorial University of Newfoundland experienced a cyberattack in late December that disrupted services at its Grenfell campus (and prompted precautionary shutdowns at the Marine Institute), causing delays to the semester start, outages of campus internet/WiFi and payment terminals, and requiring password resets; the university has isolated affected systems, deployed additional IT personnel, notified law enforcement, and is investigating but has not confirmed data loss or attribution.
