Ericsson US discloses data breach after service provider hack

Ericsson disclosed that a third‑party service provider storing employee and customer data experienced a breach discovered April 28, 2025; an investigation found some files accessed between April 17–22, 2025 and sensitive personal information (including SSNs, government IDs, financial and medical data) was exposed for an undisclosed number of individuals (4,377 affected in Texas). The provider involved notified the FBI, engaged external cybersecurity experts, and Ericsson is offering identity protection services to affected people, while there is currently no public evidence the stolen data has been misused or a threat actor has claimed responsibility.
