Twilio will discontinue Authy desktop apps for Windows, macOS, and Linux in August 2024, recommending users switch to the iOS or Android mobile app (with iOS remaining available on Apple Silicon Macs); enabling backups will sync tokens to mobile, but there is no export feature, so moving to another 2FA app requires disabling and re-enabling 2FA per account. Organizations using Authy’s API should notify customers ahead of the cutoff, and several alternative desktop authenticators are suggested.
