Microsoft shares Outlook workaround for Gmail sign-in issues

Microsoft detailed and subsequently fixed a known issue preventing classic Outlook users from signing in to or adding Gmail accounts, causing errors like "This browser or app may not be secure" and IMAP setup failures; the fix is available in Current Channel (Version 2412 Build 18324.20168) and could be obtained early via Microsoft 365 Insider with a registry change. Until broadly available, users were advised to sign in via another browser and note that Gmail’s IMAP access is always enabled. The report also references Gmail’s stricter bulk-sender policies that have resulted in some Outlook.com emails being blocked or flagged as spam.
