Android to add new anti-theft and data protection features

Google detailed new Android anti-theft and data protection features rolling out in 2024, including AI-powered Theft Detection Lock, Offline Device Lock, and Remote Lock for Android 10+ via Play services, alongside Android 15 upgrades that strengthen factory reset protection, require authentication for sensitive account/device changes, and introduce PIN-locked private spaces; together these measures aim to prevent unauthorized access, deter resale of stolen devices, and reduce opportunities for theft and fraud, with additional protections coming via Google Play Protect against scams, spyware, and banking malware.
