US space tech giant Maxar discloses employee data breach

Maxar Space Systems disclosed that an unauthorized actor using a Hong Kong-based IP accessed a company system containing employee personal data (names, home addresses, Social Security numbers, contact info, employment details, etc.) for about a week before discovery on October 11, 2024; no bank account information was reported exposed, and affected employees are being offered identity protection and credit monitoring. The report also notes a previously claimed scraping of GeoHIVE user data and that the company investigated potential further impacts to proprietary technical data.
