Microsoft is introducing Brand Impersonation Protection for Teams, a default-on feature rolling out in mid-February that flags potential impersonation in first-time external VoIP calls with high-risk warnings to reduce social engineering. Organizations are advised to brief support staff ahead of the change, while Teams also gains default messaging protections such as malicious URL detection, weaponizable file-type blocking, false-positive reporting, and admin alerts for suspicious external domain traffic.
