Microsoft is implementing security enhancements for Outlook personal accounts by phasing out Basic Authentication in favor of modern, token-based authentication with MFA by September 16, 2024, and encouraging users to migrate to compatible clients. Additional changes include ending support for Windows Mail and Calendar apps on December 31, 2024, retiring Outlook Web App Light on August 19, 2024, discontinuing Gmail access via Outlook.com on June 30, 2024, and removing certain Outlook mobile voice features due to Cortana’s deprecation.
