Microsoft fixes Windows update bug that uninstalled Copilot

Microsoft acknowledged and fixed a bug in the March 2025 Windows cumulative updates (KB5053598 for Windows 11 24H2 and KB5053606 for Windows 10 22H2) that unintentionally uninstalled and unpinned the Copilot app on some devices. The company says affected systems are being returned to their original state; users who prefer not to wait can reinstall Copilot from the Microsoft Store and re-pin it. No security or data collection issues were reported, and Microsoft has not yet detailed the root cause on the Windows release health dashboard.
