Man behind in-flight Evil Twin WiFi attacks gets 7 years in prison

An Australian man was sentenced to seven years and four months after operating ‘evil twin’ WiFi networks aboard domestic flights and at airports (Perth, Melbourne, Adelaide) using a WiFi Pineapple and phishing captive portals to harvest social media credentials, access victims’ accounts to steal intimate images and monitor communications; forensic analysis recovered thousands of private images and credentials and the defendant pleaded guilty to multiple unauthorized access, theft, and evidence tampering charges.
