A cyberattack on the U.K. Police National Legal Database (PNLD) was claimed by the ExfilSquad data extortion group, which says it exfiltrated ~1.9 GB of data containing about 135,000 contact records (full names, organizations, email addresses) of police officers, staff and Ask the Police users; samples were published and a ransom was demanded, PNLD has confirmed the breach, reported no compromise of passwords or sensitive victim data, and is investigating with support from cybersecurity experts and the NCA while notifying the ICO.
