Windows Update gets new controls to reduce forced restarts

Microsoft is rolling out Windows Update improvements to Windows Insiders that give users more control over update timing and reduce restart disruptions. Key changes include a calendar flyout to pause updates for up to 35 days (extendable), separating standard power actions from "Update and restart/shut down" options, clearer device-type labels for driver updates, and consolidating driver, .NET, firmware, and monthly cumulative updates to reduce the number of required reboots; these features are initially in the Dev and Experimental channels.
