Microsoft released an emergency out-of-band update (KB5064489) to fix a secure kernel initialization issue introduced by July Patch Tuesday that prevented certain Azure VMs (Windows 11 24H2/Windows Server 2025, version 8.0 standard GE on older SKUs) from starting when VBS was enabled without Trusted Launch. Admins should confirm VBS is running, avoid installing KB5062553 on impacted systems, apply the OOB update, or mitigate by enabling Trusted Launch; Windows Server 2025 VM images have been updated accordingly.
