Hacker wipes 13,000 devices after breaching classroom management platform

Mobile Guardian, a cross-platform K-12 device management provider, suffered an unauthorized access incident on August 4, 2024, that allowed an attacker to unenroll and remotely wipe a percentage of managed iOS and ChromeOS devices; Singapore officials report about 13,000 student devices across 26 schools were wiped. The vendor says there is no evidence of data exfiltration, the service is suspended, and investigations and device restorations are underway.
