Google Chrome is adding a setting (currently in Canary, rolling out to all users) to delete the on-device AI models that power its AI-enhanced Enhanced Protection for real-time site, download, and extension risk detection; users can disable this by going to Settings > System and turning off “On-device GenAI.” Google indicates these local models may also support additional features beyond scam detection.
