Threat Score
Researchers at ETH Zurich disclosed Spectre-like speculative execution attacks that bypass IBPB protections on recent Intel (12th–14th gen and Xeon 5th–6th gen) and older AMD (Zen1, Zen1+, Zen2) processors, allowing return-predictor hijacking to leak privileged data; Intel and AMD have acknowledged related CVEs and issued advisories/microcode or classed the issue as a software bug, while Linux mitigations and vendor fixes are incomplete and kernel patches are in development.
