Google rolls out new Find My Device network to Android devices

Google announced the rollout of its upgraded Find My Device network for Android in the U.S. and Canada, enabling offline location of phones/tablets and expanding support to third‑party Bluetooth tracker tags (e.g., Chipolo, Pebblebee) and select headphones, with device sharing and Nest-assisted proximity cues. The network incorporates multilayered safety and privacy protections—including end-to-end encrypted, aggregated location reporting, rate limiting, home-location contribution blocking, and unknown-tracker alerts—and is now covered under the Android security vulnerability rewards program to incentivize further security research.
