Panera Bread experienced a ransomware attack in March that encrypted virtual machines and disrupted services (website, phone, mobile app, POS, internal systems) for about a week; threat actors also exfiltrated employee data including names and social security numbers, and internal communications and reports suggest the company likely paid a ransom to obtain assurances the stolen data was deleted.
