Russia arrests cybercriminal Wazawaka for ties with ransomware gangs

Russian authorities have arrested and indicted Mikhail Pavlovich Matveev (aliases Wazawaka, Uhodiransomwar, m1x, Boriselcin) accused of developing ransomware and participating in LockBit, Babuk, and Hive operations. U.S. authorities previously charged him for attacks on law enforcement and critical infrastructure, OFAC sanctioned him, and the U.S. State Department offers up to $10 million for information leading to his arrest; alleged incidents include compromises in New Jersey and Washington, D.C.
