WhatsApp introduced Advanced Chat Privacy, a setting for chats and groups that blocks exporting chats, auto-downloading media, and using messages for AI features to keep content from leaving the app, though content can still be captured via photos. The feature is rolling out broadly and complements existing protections like end-to-end encryption, encrypted backups, disappearing messages, chat locks with secret codes, call location hiding via proxy, and encrypted contact databases.
