LockBit ransomware gang has over $110 million in unspent bitcoin

LockBit, a prolific ransomware group active since 2019, was disrupted in Operation Cronos; analysis of seized infrastructure and blockchain data attributed over $125M in ransom receipts to the gang between July 2022 and Feb 2024, with roughly 2,200 BTC (≈$110M) remaining unspent. Law enforcement across multiple countries obtained tens of thousands of addresses, identified hundreds of active wallets and dozens of exchange accounts, made arrests, and highlighted the group’s large-scale impact on high-profile victims and the broader multi-hundred-million to multi-billion dollar global harm caused by the campaign.
