Tietoevry ransomware attack causes outages for Swedish firms, cities

Finnish IT services provider Tietoevry suffered an Akira ransomware attack on January 19–20 that encrypted virtualization and management servers in a Swedish data center, causing outages across multiple enterprise cloud-hosting customers — including retail chains, cinemas, the Primula HR/payroll system used by government and universities, and healthcare records in Uppsala — while the company isolated the affected platform and began staged restorations.
