Chinese state-backed hackers known as "Salt Typhoon" breached the U.S. Treasury through a compromised BeyondTrust remote support platform, targeting the Office of Foreign Assets Control and the Office of Financial Research; the group is also linked to breaches of multiple U.S. and international telecom providers that exposed texts, voicemails, calls, and wiretap data, prompting remediation and policy responses.
