Medium bans AI-generated content from its paid Partner Program

Medium announced that, effective May 1, 2024, fully AI-generated stories are banned from the Medium Partner Program, with such posts removed from paywalls and potentially leading to removal from monetization; AI-assisted writing remains allowed with clear disclosure within the first two paragraphs and proper labeling of AI-generated images, while AI-generated posts may still appear on personal blogs but face limited distribution across Medium’s network, and users can downrank such content via the “Show less like this” option.
