Microsoft acknowledged an ongoing Windows 11 Event Viewer issue that logs Windows Firewall event ID 2042 ("Config Read Failed" / "More data is available") on each restart; although it was briefly marked as resolved in July Patch Tuesday notes, that status was posted in error. The company says the events are benign, tied to an upcoming feature rather than a firewall problem, can be ignored, and will be fixed in an upcoming update.
