Microsoft Azure outage takes down services across North America

Microsoft mitigated an Azure outage lasting more than two hours that primarily impacted services using Azure Front Door; a configuration change was rolled back and most services recovered. The report also links a prior nine-hour outage to a volumetric TCP SYN flood DDoS that was amplified by an implementation error in Microsoft’s defenses, and references past Layer 7 DDoS activity attributed to the threat actor known as Anonymous Sudan.
