Microsoft Teams to get efficiency mode on PCs with limited resources

Microsoft is rolling out an Efficiency Mode for Teams (Windows and Mac) in May 2026 to improve responsiveness on hardware-constrained devices by adjusting video resolution and app behavior; users can opt out via Settings. Additionally, Microsoft plans new security capabilities — reporting of suspicious external users, a Security Detection Report in the Teams admin center, automatic tagging of third-party bots in meeting lobbies, call reporting, and fraud-protection features — to help detect impersonation, malicious URLs, and weaponizable file types.
