FTC offers $25,000 prize for detecting AI-enabled voice cloning

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission has opened its Voice Cloning Challenge, seeking practical ideas to detect and deter AI-enabled voice cloning used in fraud and social engineering; submissions are open January 2–12 (8:00 PM EST) and will be judged on feasibility, impact on corporate accountability and consumer burden, and resilience to rapid advances, with prizes including a $25,000 top award, $4,000 runner-up, and up to three $2,000 honorable mentions, and findings intended to guide mitigation efforts or policy if effective defenses are not identified.
