Nottingham University data breach affects over 450,000 students

The University of Nottingham disclosed a cyber incident in which a known extortion group (ShinyHunters) claims to have accessed and published approximately 40GB of student records from PeopleSoft systems, impacting roughly 454,600 current and former students and exposing extensive personal data (names, addresses, DOBs, passport numbers, payment details). The report places the breach within a wider campaign targeting Oracle PeopleSoft instances worldwide using a "gadget chain" of zero-days and older vulnerabilities, and notes similar recent compromises at other universities and third-party platforms.
