Wyze disclosed that a malfunctioning third-party caching client library during a large-scale AWS-related outage caused device-to-user mapping errors, exposing thumbnails and in some cases event video feeds to about 13,000 users (1,504 interacted with them). The company removed Events access, implemented additional verification for video access, and disabled caching pending replacement of the client library.
