American utility firm Itron discloses breach of internal IT network

Itron, a Washington-based utility technology company that manages 112 million endpoints, disclosed that an unauthorized third party accessed certain internal systems on April 13, 2026; the company says it activated its cybersecurity response plan, engaged external advisors and law enforcement, has blocked the activity with no observed follow-up or material business disruption to date, and is continuing an investigation into the scope and impact.
