Microsoft tests Edge Scareware Blocker to block tech support scams

Microsoft is rolling out a preview of an AI-powered scareware blocker in Edge for Windows that locally uses a computer-vision machine learning model to detect tech support scam pages in real time, exit full-screen mode, mute audio, and warn users while allowing them to proceed or report suspicious sites to improve Defender SmartScreen and reduce false positives; the feature is available to stable-channel users with previews enabled under Privacy, Search and Services, and Microsoft also notes upcoming brand impersonation protection for Teams Chat.
