Google Chrome now shows AI-informed two-tier download warnings (suspicious vs dangerous) using Safe Browsing verdicts and improved UI. For users with Enhanced Protection, Chrome may upload suspicious files — including password-protected archives (after prompting for the password) — to Google for deeper scanning (with Google stating files and passwords are deleted after scanning); Standard Protection checks only archive metadata locally. The update aims to reduce bypassed warnings and improve protection, but raises privacy and data-leak concerns that may lead organizations to prohibit submitting archive passwords.
