Microsoft warned that October 2025 Windows security updates may cause some Intel-based devices that support Modern Standby to boot into the BitLocker recovery screen, requiring entry of recovery keys. Affected platforms include Windows 11 (24H2 and 25H2) and Windows 10 (22H2); Microsoft provided a KIR-delivered group policy mitigation and directed affected business customers to contact support. The issue is similar to previous update-induced BitLocker recovery incidents.
