Car rental giant Avis discloses data breach impacting customers

Avis disclosed that attackers breached a business application between August 3–6, 2024, resulting in the theft of personal information for approximately 299,006 U.S. customers. The company reported evicting the attacker, engaging external cybersecurity experts, notifying authorities, offering one year of Equifax credit monitoring to affected customers, and implementing additional security controls.
