AutoCanada disclosed a mid‑August ransomware attack attributed to the Hunters International group that allegedly resulted in the publication of terabytes of stolen data containing employee PII (names, addresses, dates of birth, SINs, payroll and bank details, scanned IDs and other documents). The company isolated affected systems, disrupted the encryption process, reset credentials, and is offering three years of Equifax identity protection while it investigates and restores systems.
