Microsoft has contributed a change to Chromium so Google Chrome on Windows will automatically de-elevate if launched with administrator privileges, mirroring Edge’s 2019 behavior, to reduce the risk of downloaded content executing with elevated rights. A command-line switch (-do-not-de-elevate) can prevent loops after relaunch, and automation scenarios are exempt.
