WazirX Incident: Explained

On 18 July 2024 WazirX disclosed a compromise of a 6-key multisignature ETH/ERC-20 wallet resulting in ~ $230M stolen (≈50% of its reported reserves). The report describes how attackers obtained multiple keys—allegedly via phishing/signature-phishing and other access compromises—then laundered funds via chain-hopping and Tornado Cash, identifies primary attacker addresses, suggests possible Lazarus Group involvement, and warns of follow-on lookalike-domain scams preying on victims.
