Network traffic periodicity analysis of dark address space

This document describes how traffic sent to unused IPv4 dark address space—often reflecting DoS echoes, automated port scanning, or client misconfigurations—can exhibit periodic behavior that is measurable using the Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT). It introduces the analysis method and indicates results demonstrating how DFT-based periodicity detection can reveal insights into broader Internet activity.
