Meta is not adequately meeting the demands of CERT Polska

CERT Polska reports that despite ongoing engagement since December 2024, Meta’s measures against ad fraud targeting Polish users remain insufficient: while Meta is rolling out facial recognition for celebrity impersonation and promoting Brand Rights Protection in the EU, it declined to implement CERT’s Warning List for automatic domain blocking, has not improved responses to regular user reports, and maintains an Ad Library with significant indexing delays. The platform’s strike-based moderation allows fraudulent pages to persist until repeated violations, and scammers adapt by using unregistered faces, generic brands, and fake investment or recovery services. CERT concludes that systemic, locally informed moderation improvements and stronger cooperation are still needed to curb widespread scam advertising.
