Doctor Web’s January 2024 review of virus activity on mobile devices

Dr.Web's January mobile threat review reports increased activity across multiple Android malware families: adware (notably Android.HiddenAds and the newly identified Adware.StrawAd found embedded in Google Play games), a rise in banking trojans (~17%) and spyware (~11%), and continued use of modification/install toolkits (CloudInject, SilentInstaller, NPMod) that enable stealthy installs and permission escalation. Several FakeApp trojans masquerading as legitimate apps were found on Google Play to load fraudulent financial and gambling sites for data and payment fraud; the report lists affected app names, detection signatures, and links to indicators of compromise.
