Dr.Web's Q3 2024 overview reports a 10.8% increase in total detections driven primarily by adware and malicious scripts, widespread malicious email activity exploiting Office vulnerabilities, and significant mobile threats—most notably the Android.Vo1d backdoor that infected about 1.3 million Android TV boxes across 197 countries; the quarter also saw numerous Google Play malware discoveries, banking trojans targeting Indonesia, declining but present encoder (ransomware) activity, and extensive phishing/fraud campaigns targeting users in multiple regions.
