Microsoft Defender describes an active campaign that lures victims to look-alike vendor download sites to fetch dynamically generated installer archives which stage randomized payloads that establish persistence via disguised scheduled tasks, escalate privileges using SYSTEM scheduled tasks and process injection, weaken host defenses (Defender exclusions, shadow-copy deletion, Windows Update neutralization), and communicate with attacker-controlled C2 and cloud storage; the report includes detailed IOCs, MITRE ATT&CK mappings, detection queries, and recommended mitigations.
