DoD Zero Trust Strategy proves security benchmark years ahead of schedule with Microsoft collaboration

Microsoft describes how the U.S. Navy’s Flank Speed zero trust program, built on Azure and Microsoft 365 IL5, achieved 100% of 91 DoD Target Level activities and 60 of 61 Advanced Level activities in DoD PfMO-led assessments, securing more than 560,000 identities and devices across hybrid and on-premises environments. The success is attributed to an integrated Microsoft Security stack (including XDR, cloud device and identity management), six months of operator training, and alignment to the DoD’s seven zero trust pillars, positioning the Navy’s model as a repeatable blueprint and directing agencies to related frameworks and guidance.
