In the early hours of July 19, a faulty CrowdStrike channel file caused widespread BSODs on Windows hosts running sensor version 7.11 and above; CrowdStrike reverted the channel file within 90 minutes and published dashboards, detection queries, and remediation options (manual removal, USB recovery tool, and an automated opt-in then opt-out remediation). The outage was an operational configuration error rather than a cyberattack, no Linux/macOS hosts were affected, and there is a caution about potential opportunistic impersonation domains.
