Why planning structures must evolve in modern manufacturing

This article argues that planning imbalances in manufacturing arise from static planning structures rather than inventory shortages, and proposes an AI-driven dynamic planning approach—building structural signatures, finding comparable configurations, predicting component mix probabilities, and generating dynamic Planning BOMs—to improve ERP–MES alignment, reduce expediting (~30–40%), and stabilize production schedules.
