AI machine speed is breaking VPN security

The ThreatLabz 2026 VPN Risk Report surveys 822 IT/security professionals and warns that AI-accelerated attacks are already being observed (61% reported encounters) while VPN environments struggle with limited visibility (70% limited/no visibility into AI threats), slow patching (54% take a week+ for critical fixes), and encrypted-traffic blind spots (1 in 3 inspect 0%); the report urges containment-first/app-based access and zero-trust modernization to reduce blast radius, improve visibility, and minimize bypass paths.
