IAM Has a Fix for the Modern Identity Crisis

This article argues that in the AI era, identity telemetry is a critical and vulnerable asset, and recommends repatriating key IAM components to regain control over logs, reduce costs, and improve resilience and responsiveness. It outlines a phased approach—moving authorization decisioning closer to workloads, elevating machine identities, managing keys and token services, and securing the identity telemetry pipeline—supported by modern operational practices (IaC, automated patching, SLOs, redundancy, chaos testing, and strong key management). The piece emphasizes deterministic performance, survivability, customization, and tight telemetry integration, and promotes Symantec’s Identity Security Platform and PAM as tools, including a Broadcom case study migrating 16M identities.
