Are Healthcare Mobile Applications Really Healthy

This report summarizes an analysis of 100 mobile healthcare apps across telemedicine, health commerce, medical device, and COVID-tracking categories, finding pervasive security weaknesses: every app had at least one fundamental issue, 71% had at least one high-level flaw, 91% showed weak encryption, and many apps stored sensitive data unencrypted or were vulnerable to key extraction. The authors rate vulnerabilities using CVSS and align testing to OWASP mobile risks, concluding that most high-risk issues could have been mitigated with application protection (obfuscation, tamper detection, white-box cryptography) and urging healthcare organizations to prioritize mobile app security.
