Zscaler Report Validates Threat Actors’ Mobile First Attack Strategy

Zscaler and Zimperium reporting shows a marked shift to mobile-first attacks: Android malware prevalence rose sharply (reported +67% YOY), trojan deployment increased (~50%), and an estimated 18% of sampled mobile devices were infected. Attackers are moving from card-focused fraud to mobile payments and credential theft using phishing/mishing (smishing, vishing, quishing), SIM swapping, malicious apps and accessibility-permission abuse, with notable targeting of energy, healthcare, government and retail sectors; the report recommends deploying mobile-specific protection and zero-trust access controls.
